Historic Design Build Renovation: 1900s Kitchen & Water View Transformation

We had no concerns building with Hill & Harbor Design + Build. We were going to be home a lot during the construction and wondering how that was going to feel, but it was really smoothly done. And I thought they were really thoughtful about making sure we were comfortable being in our home during this time.

I love being in my kitchen. I come in here in the morning and can’t believe I get to live here. It’s completely transformed the house to this open, beautiful space that we now have water views from our kitchen. Absolute dream kitchen. It made our house immediately more inviting and livable in every way.

One of my favorite things about the kitchen is all of the natural light coming in, especially in the morning. You can see the sunrise. It’s just stunning in here. Because the way the kitchen’s set up, we spend so much time in the kitchen together as a family sharing the space.

They took a very vague vision that we had and really brought it to life. And when we saw what they pictured for the kitchen, it was exactly what we wanted. Hill & Harbor Design + Build made a 3D model of what it might look like and it was completely mind-blowing for us. They were like, "Can it really look like that?" And it does. It looks better.

In fact, I would say this is a house from 1900. There’s always surprises. So, having that single point of contact is really important. There were no surprise costs that we hadn’t known about. We were able to see the budget and see how on budget or perhaps off budget we were, but that was all in our control.

They really cared as much about our kitchen as we cared about it. And I love cooking in our kitchen and being in the kitchen with our family and friends. Not only would we recommend it, but we’ll probably build with them again. We’ve got more renovations to do. Absolutely.
